Let’s be honest from the beginning because this is a how to make money with affiliate marketing beginner’s guide.

It’s not a piece of cake. At least for most people out there.

Making money with affiliate marketing (or any other way) requires some things most people are just too damn lazy to do… (which is EXACTLY why they don’t make any money online).

Some of those things are:

  • Proper education
  • Consistency
  • Not giving up
  • It takes time to learn first
  • Take action on what you’ve learned

I could go on and on and on with this, but I think you understand what I am trying to say here.

I know you are smart (otherwise wouldn’t be reading this post).

Today I am going to show you how to make money with affiliate marketing even if you never made a dime online.

1. Write a detailed review of the product(s) you promote


Always target the keyword „Product name + review“.

For example, one of my reviews was about Leadsleap.

Leadsleap is an advertising platform.

So I targeted the keyword „leadsleap review“ in my detailed Leadsleap review.

I managed to hit the # 1 in Google for the keyword “Leadsleap review”.

I also outranked pages that have domain and page authority higher than my blog.

Also, the good strategy is to add a few attractive words in the headline of your blog post review.

For example, if the title of your review is „how to train a dog“:

You would definitely like to add something such as:

„10 powerful tips you’ve never seen before.“

So, your title should look like this:

„How To Train A Dog (10 Powerful Tips You’Ve Never Seen Before)“

The reason for this is because the keyword „how to train a dog“ is not attractive enough and your CTR (click through rate) will be low.

By adding attractive words like 10 powerful tips, you will definitely increase your CTR and more people will land on your review page.

I did this in my Leadsleap review post title:

I simply added attractive words such as “arsenal” and “free marketing tools” to increase CTR.

Enhance your review

Include examples, screenshots, videos, pdf tutorials.

Tell your story about the product.

Tell people how the product helped you.

The more specific you are, the better.

You will build trust and authority that way and people will buy from you often.

2. Make An Interview With The Product Owner


It doesn’t really matter which channel you will use for the interview.

It could be a Skype or Zoom video call.

Perhaps an audio interview, or even face to face interview.

During the interview, lead the owner with questions that will reduce resistance and increase curiosity about the product.

In the end, make a pitch, create a call to action and tell people what they should do next.

If you can, do an interview with every product owner you promote.

Afterward, publish these interviews on your blog, too.

This is very important because of the longevity of blog posts.

That way, people will be able to find your review on the search engines so you will have free organic traffic to your site consistently.

3. Make a product/services/tools resource page on your blog


The resource page has potential to become your stable, passive income stream.

On that page, you will list all the services and products you are actually using in your business.

Many of them, if not all, have an affiliate program included.

So, what will happen every time a visitor comes to your resource page and decide to purchase any of the products and services you have listed and recommended is this:

You will make an affiliate commission.

Make sure to add or remove services and products at least 1 time per month. They have to be up to date all the time.

4. Find a big pain keyword to target in your niche


How to make money online and how to lose weight are probably the best examples I could give you.

But, here’s the kicker:

A lot of people are struggling with this.

The competition is huge within these 2 niches.

But, you can always target long tail keywords and make a pretty solid income from them, too.

5. Record a video review


Video review is a great marketing solution.

Nowadays people don’t have much time to read long reviews.

Instead, they are more likely to watch a video review of the product that interests them.

6. Don’t be Afraid To Sell


Selling is FUN.

I repeat…

Selling is FUN.

Don’t you think?

So many people in this crazy World are too afraid to sell.

Even if they have a hot buyer in front themselves. That’s nonsense.

Here’s why:

Everything in life is selling. We all sell. All the time.

Either ourselves, products, services etc.

Selling is in the human nature.

People love to buy new things. 

People love to buy things they don’t need at all.

People are buying all the time. Period.

You just need to be brave enough to ask them to purchase your product.

Because if you don’t someone else will.

7. Always track your links


There are a lot of tracking services you can use out there.

Here are just a few of them:

Tracking links is a great way to see whether your links being clicked from the real people.

It’s an especially good thing if you are purchasing clicks to your offer.

8. Use bridge pages


Bridge page could be a blog post or landing page where you will pre-sell the product to your prospect.

Write a text review or shot a video review about the product.

People like to buy from the people they know, like and trust.

Be VERY specific in your reviews.

That way you will stand out from others.

9. Create Pillar Posts To Beat Your Competition


Most people are too lazy to write blog posts.

Use their laziness and create the content they couldn’t compete with.

That way you will always get a lot of free targeted traffic from the search engine results.

The more pillar posts you have, the more organic traffic you will get.

It’s time consuming, but at the end of the day it is totally worth it.

10. Own The Product You Are Promoting


So many affiliates make huge mistakes here:

They are trying to promote various affiliate products without even tested them.

Please, don’t do that.

You can’t be persuasive if you don’t own the product and don’t have personal experience with it.

Always own the product first, second learn all about the product.

Then start promoting it (if you are sure it will be helpful to your audience).

For instance:

11. Tell people there might be affiliate links


Always be straightforward.

People are weird creatures.

They will assume you are hiding something from them.

Always emphasize there might be affiliate links in the blog post, pdf reports etc.

Just like I did above with Instabuilder plugin.

12. Don’t Forget To Link Images In Your Blog or PDF


I can’t even count how many PDF reports I got:

In which authors didn’t link the pictures to their affiliate products (or optin pages).

That is a huge, huge mistake.

Here’s why:

People love images.

They will rather click on the image then on the text link.

Create eye-catching images for your PDF reports and sprinkle your affiliate links throughout the report.

13. Review your old blog posts and look for affiliate products


If you have a blog with lots of published posts here’s what you’ll do:

Take the time to review your older posts.

I bet you will find a ton of opportunities to link towards your affiliate products.

Even better:

Make your old posts better.

Add more quality content, images, do internal and external linking too.

Then republish these old posts and go promote them to get as much traffic as you can.

14. Use Landing Page Builder


You will create hundreds of landing pages for affiliate products you promote.

That’s why you have to have some landing page builder software.

I use Instabuilder 2.0 plugin for WordPress last 3 years.

There are plenty of others out there, too.

Google it until you find the one that gives you what you need.

15. Invest in yourself


The more knowledge you have, the more money you will make with affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is a serious business, not a hobby.

How you treat it, that’s how it will give you back.

Always invest in courses and things like that.

In the long-term run, it will be well worth it because 95 % of your competitors are too lazy to do such things.

16. Learn how to find the right keywords


You can use various tools for keyword research.

Keyword research is one of the most important things in affiliate marketing business.

Check this definitive guide for keyword research from Brian Dean.

Always try to find long tail (or mid-tail) keywords with low competition.

Here are a few tools you can use it:

Search Google and you will find them a lot more.

17. Check and test your affiliate links once per week


It’s very important to check your affiliate links at least once per week.

Your affiliate links always have to be updated.

You can’t afford yourself to have broken or expired links.

18. Where To Find Offers


There’s plenty of room all over the Internet to find affiliate offers you can promote.

It depends on which niche your business is.

Some of most known affiliate platforms are: 

Clickbank, JVZoo, WarriorPlus, Amazon.

But, nowadays almost every product or service has an affiliate program.

For example, autoresponder service has its own affiliate program, landing page builder has it also etc.

19. Ask vendors for review copies


You don’t have to purchase every single product or service under the Sun to be able to promote it and make commissions.

If you have a blog with quality content, you can contact the product owner and ask them to get you a review access.

In exchange, you are going to publish an in-depth review about the product on your blog.

It’s a win-win situation for both sides.

20. Keep An Eye On The Vendor’s Statistic


Never ignore the refund rate.

If they don’t want to tell you, they are probably hiding something.

Not every digital product is great.

In fact, most of them are garbage.

You don’t want to promote garbage to your audience.

You want to promote high-quality products that can really help them.

You will probably spend more time finding those products.

But, at the end of the day, both your audience and you will be happy.

Despite more than 3000 sales, the vendor has pretty huge refund rate.

If I were you, I wouldn’t promote that product.

21. Build your email list in several niches/sub-niches


Spreading your income streams is a must.

You should build your list in several niches or sub-niches.

You can promote literally everything and make affiliate commissions from several income streams.

No matter which niche you are involved with:

You always can add another niche to your portfolio and automatize the whole thing.

22. Always Send Traffic To Your Capture Page


One of the biggest mistakes affiliate marketers doing is they are sending traffic directly to the sales page:

Trust me, you don’t want to this if your plan is to become a serious affiliate marketer.

If you want to run a business, you must have a contact list.

Without contact list, you will never have a business! Keep that in mind all the time.

There are plenty of tools to create capture pages in 5 minutes or less without knowing any technical skills or coding.

Use those tools, create your capture pages and build your email list.

Your email list is your most precious asset.

23. Create email templates and reuse them


You don’t want to write a promo email from scratch every time you promote a new product, don’t you?

Why wouldn’t you create a few email promo templates?

And then just reuse them for every new product you promote.

This way, you will save yourself a lot of time and you will be able to earn more money.

One promo campaign should contain 5-7 email messages at least.

You can’t expect people will buy products from you if you will show them your promo offer once or twice.

24. Send “exclusive only” information to your email list


Don’t publish this information anywhere else!

Only send them to your VIP subscribers list.

Here’s why:

You have probably heard about „FOMO“ I guess?

If not, FOMO means Fear of Missing Out.

That way you can „force“ people to stay subscribed to your email list.

Don’t take my word literally, please.

What I want you to know is this:

By providing value, by sending them high-quality information you won’t publish anywhere else…

You are growing your chances to make them eagerly waiting for your next email.

25. Review The Products In Your Emails


Surprised? Don’t be.

I have seen and I have bought from some marketers that are using this method.

They have a complete review of the product inside the email they are sending to their list.

How cool is that?

You don’t have to click over and there to read all the details.

They delivered all the info right to your inbox.

I really like this approach although I haven’t seen too many marketers using it.

Don’t over exaggerate with this strategy.

Send this type of email ONLY when you really have an outstanding product to promote.

26. Offer Exclusive Bonuses In Your Emails


I don’t mean just offer the bonuses at the end of emails or in the P.S.

Send them an entire email with your exclusive bonus offer.

Go in-depth about each bonus they are going to get if they buy a product you are promoting to them.

People love getting free bonuses.

I know I do because I gathered a ton of cool bonuses.

Many of them will buy some product just to get your awesome bonuses.

By giving them awesome bonuses, they will come back to you for more in the future.

27. Be Honest


Honesty is the way to go.

I will rather lose commission, then hide something from my audience just to get a commission.

Here’s why:

If they trust me, they will buy from me over and over and over again.

If I screw them just once, they will go away forever.

28. Always Use Strong Call To Action


You could write the best possible product review or email copy, but:

If you don’t have a strong CTA people won’t do anything.

You see, most people are lazy.

They want all to be served on the silver platter to them.

Your job is to provide the information they want.

You need to point them what they need to do next.

Just like Stuart Walker is doing at NicheHacks blog.

Strong CTAs are an excellent way to do this.

29. Ask Your Audience What’s Bothering Them


This is the easiest way to have both, the problem they are struggling with and the solution you are going to give them.

Once your audience tells you what’s bothering them, you just need to address them a solution.

Pretty simple don’t you think?

Yet most people over complicate things and because of that they are leaving a lot of money on the table.

Just create a simple survey like shown below and send it to your email subscribers.

Based on their answers, you will know what’s your next move.

30. Guide Them Until They Say YES


It’s a pure human psychology.

The more yeses you get, the more sales you are going to make.

This strategy works great in FAQ emails:

You are leading them to the ultimate goal (sale) by asking them simple questions they only can answer with YES.

That way you reduce their resistance and at the same time you:

Entice them to make the right decision.

In other words, they think it’s their idea to purchase the product.

31. Find new products to promote


Don’t get stuck with promoting one or two products all the time.

The internet is global. There are billions of products out there.

And billions of people searching for the solution of their problems every single day.

You must scale up your business if you want to become professional in affiliate marketing.

You must increase your email list on daily basis.

Otherwise, you won’t have a business.

32. Narrow Down Your Niche as Much as Possible


What does that mean, you might be wondering?

Simple. It means you need to be specific.

Narrow down your niche as much as possible.

If you are in health niche, that’s is too broad. You have to narrow that down.

People are having a ton of different health issues.

If you target health issues, you won’t get far.

But, if you target let’s say, „how to get rid of yeast infection“:

You are narrowing down your niche.

At the same time, you are increasing your chance to target the right audience and make some sales.

Yes, you do! It’s not that hard, trust me.

Of course, you can. A lot of them. You just need to get started ASAP.

Digital informational products is a hot niche today.

And it will remain for many years to come.

34. Find out what people are searching using keyword research


To find what keywords people are actively searching on the internet, you will need some good keyword tools.

Using just Google search engine won’t be good enough.

Apart from losing a lot of time to find the right keywords:

You won’t be able to see how many times your chosen keyword is searched on the monthly basis.

There are plenty of keyword tools you can use, both free and paid.

35. Attract readers with a compelling headline


The headline is the first thing that people see.

No matter if it’s your blog article or your email:

The quality of the headline determines whether people will click on it or not.

Spend the most of time to create the best possible headline you can to attract the attention of your visitors.

36. Add a Clear Call-To-Action With Your Affiliate Links


What I mean here is that you create a call to action button or link as the same as your headline.

That will definitely increase your CTR.

For example, if your headline is:

Your call to action should be like:

Get 11 Powerful Tips On How To Get Rid Of Yeast Infection NOW

37. Run Your Own Blog


That will help you build credibility and trust among your audience.

With a blog, you have a perfect chance to convert cold traffic into hot traffic.

Other than that, your blog posts have a goal of driving targeted traffic to your website all the time.

A single blog post has a tendency to bring you affiliate sales over and over and over again.

Really powerful stuff. Spend as much time as you can on building your blog.

38. Don’t spend money on software if they don’t offer a free trial


Remember, your ultimate goal is not to sell the affiliate product.

That’s product vendor’s goal:

That’s why he made a sales page.

You just need to convince your subscribers or blog readers to click on the link.

You are providing them the solution to their problem.

But, as I told you before:

ALWAYS send people to your capture page first.

That way you are building yourself a contact list.

And having a contact list means you are having a real long-term business.

39. Create Checklists (lots of them)


Put your links and call to actions into every checklist product you create.

Checklist are great way of the lead magnet to „bribe“ your visitors and turn them into loyal email subscribers.

40. Have A Multiple Email Lists


Often mistake marketers do is they only have 1 email list gathered from 1 lead magnet.

That’s definitely not a good strategy.

You can create numerous email lists (inside ONE niche) and make the profit from each one of them.

Put those people that have purchased something through your affiliate link, on your „buyers“ list.

That way you can send certain offers to the buyer’s list only.

41. Weekly/Monthly Feature Product


This is a great option to get a solid amount of affiliate commissions.

You can email your list every time you feature a product to reach even more people.

Still, don’t have your own blog?

Create one as soon as possible to take more advantage of this strategy.

42. Use Long-Term Approach


This is a marathon. You can’t get laid on the first date.

I mean, you can, but that’s not a long-term strategy.

It’s not easy to earn trust from your cold traffic. It could take months.

On the other hand, it’s very easy to lose a prospect.

If you build confidence and trust, people will buy from you over and over and over again.

43. Target Your Audience Specifically


One of the biggest mistakes beginners in affiliate marketing do is that they are searching for affiliate products they could possibly promote.

You should first find a PROBLEM (niche) that people are having.

Then you should find a SOLUTION that will help them resolve their problem.

It’s that simple!

44. Give Things Away For Free


This is one of the affiliate marketing hacks I like the most.

Not because I consistently making money using this strategy to promote affiliate products from niches I have no damn clue about.

But, because using this strategy I am building my email lists whilst making affiliate commissions at the same time.

I’ve learned the most about this strategy from Mosh Bari’s „Giftly“ course.

It’s kinda funny how you can learn rock solid stuff for the only couple of USD rather than spend too much time to find them for free.

45. Follow experience marketers and learn from them


This is the easiest and the quickest way to educate yourself.

Just subscribe to their email lists and siphon the information they are sharing with you.

Also, don’t forget to follow their blog posts and Youtube channels too.

You can copy/paste what they’re doing (not literally though) because that is working for them.
